History in a Pint: Halfway Ranger Station

Join the Lake County Historical Society every second Wednesday at the Tipsy Mosquito event space located at 623 1st Avenue. Stop in early to grab some of their signature food and drink while learning a bit of history! Nestled in the Superior National Forest, Halfway Ranger Station is a living piece of history. Built in 1935 by the Civilian Conservation Corps, these log buildings now serve as a training ground for the Northern Bedrock Historic Preservation Corps. Learn about the history of the site & the important work NBHP does across the state. Stop in early to grab a table, food, and drink.

Northern Bedrock Preservation Corps

Since 2011 NBPS has been training young adults in the historic trades. Minnesota is home to some remarkable landmarks in need of historic preservation. The corps assists nonprofits restore historic landmarks across the state by pairing teachers and students with projects across the state. Northern Bedrock Preservation Corps event helped the Lake County Historical Society restore 3 historic doors on the platform side of the lake.  Learn more about the program on their website: https://www.northernbedrockcorps.org/.
