The Lake County Historical Society has three fulltime staff people supported by seasonal employees and community volunteers. The staff is responsible for the business of the Society including operations of the museums, the gift shops, the Lighthouse Bed & Breakfast, maintenace and repair of all buildings and grounds, archive management, research assistance and museum exhibit design.

Work at the historic Two Harbors lighthouse as a B&B innkeeper! The Innkeeper welcomes guests to the Lighthouse Bed and Breakfast by offering insights into local events and providing a brief history of the lighthouse. The innkeeper is also tasked with cleaning the lighthouse quarters, preparing breakfast for the guests, and laundering linens. Applicants must be able to negotiate stairs several times each day. Work schedule may include holidays and weekend shifts.

Looking for a summer job that offers variety? Work as a visitor services assistant at the Lake County Historical Society! The Society operates 3 historic sites in Two Harbors: the Lighthouse, Depot, and 3M Birthplace Museums. Visitor services assistants welcome guests to the museums, provide a brief history Lake County, provide information about area events, and sell merchandise in the store. Schedules may include work at all three historic sites, typically between the hours of 9:30 AM and 5:30 PM. Museum clerks are anticipated to work every other weekend.

The mission of the Lake County Historical Society is to preserve the history of Lake County, Minnesota through the preservation, study and interpretation of artifacts, documents, photographs and historic sites and to tell the story of our past and present culture.
