History in a Pint: Anishinaabe in the Great Lakes Region

November is Native American Heritage Month, so in recognition, “History and a Pint” will focus on the legacy of the Anishinaabe (Ojibwe) in the Great Lakes region, predominately those who reside within the 1854 Treaty Boundary (Lake County). This talk with chronicle the migration of the Anishinaabe to this region, what brought them here, what Treaties are, why they matter, and how they inform the stewardship of this land that we call home.

Jennifer Niemi works for the Minnesota Historical Society, is a former professor of Native Studies at the College of St. Scholastica, is a current Board member of the Lake County Historical Society, and is a direct descendent of the Gaa Waabaabiganikaag Nation. 

Talk begins at 7PM.
